The new directive incorporates a new standart of power tool vibration measurement - keep up to date with DEWALT
The new directive also incorporates a new standard of powertool vibration measurement BS EN ISO 5349-1:2001 which is projected to be fully implemented by the end of 2005.The current standard EN50144 which is used by all powertool manufacturers measures vibration in a dominant axis ( otherwise known as a single-axis measurement). The new measurement standard BS EN ISO 5349-1:2001 which measures vibration in three directions (otherwise known as a tri-axial or vector sum measurement) has been developed to replace the existing EN50144 standard and bring the manufacturers vibration measurement procedures in line with the HAV Directive. The new standard aims to more accurately measure vibration experienced by a user.
